What to expect

Most lessons are about 40 minutes to an hour with a short briefing before and a debriefing afterwards.

The course takes you through the basic manoeuvres as well as how to navigate and manage aircraft systems.​ There are also some written exams to be taken throughout the course.

Which licence?

There are two types of licence that you can go for, the PPL and the LAPL. Which licence you choose depends on what you want to do with your flying.

ADDITIONAL COURSES

If you are looking to further your aviation knowledge and experience we offer a number of additional courses from night flying to instructor ratings.

Night rating at Blackpool Airport

Night Rating

Fly on into the night and learn how to land the aircraft in the dark.

​

The night rating consists of 5 hours during which you will fly locally, complete some night navigation and circuits. This will also include some emergency training focusing on problems specific to night flying.

Single Engine Piston

If your Single Engine Piston rating has lapsed or you have completed an integrated flight training course which did not include an SEP then we can complete a tailored training course to revalidate or renew your SEP rating.

IR(R) Flight training at Blackpool Airport

Restricted Instrument Rating

The Restricted Instrument Rating is a short introductory course in how to fly in poorer weather. The 15 hour course begins by teaching you how to fly the basic manoeuvres, such as climbs, descents and turns, by only using the instrument panel and not looking out of the window.

Multi Engine Training (MEP) at Blackpool Airport

Multi Engine Piston

The Multi Engine Piston rating teaches you how to fly an aircraft with two engines. The majority of the course is spent learning how to handle the aircraft safely with one only one engine operating; dealing with the aircraft in what is known as asymmetric.

PPL and CPL Flight training

Flight Instructor Rating

The Flight Instructor Rating teaches you how to teach the PPL(A) syllabus to new pilots.
The course will go through the PPL syllabus with the FI Instructor explaining how to teach each lesson. You will then practice at teaching the syllabus to the FI Instructor acting as a dummy student, making various mistakes.
