Westair has been operating for over 80 years in aviation across 4 generations of the same family. During this time we have developed a reputation for providing professional and friendly service that produces excellent pilots. Westair has an extensive fleet of aircraft for all requirements.

For basic training our Cessna 152s are the perfect aircraft at an affordable price. We also have a number of four seat aircraft including a PA28 and two Cessna 172s for added comfort, space and speed. They also make a great aircraft for night and basic IMC training.

Our Diamond DA40 and DA50 are the ideal aircraft for commercial training. Both aircraft come equipped with Garmin G1000 avionics and autopilot.

We also have a number of simulators to aid in your training. Our fixed based Garmin procedural trainer can help you get to grips with the Diamond avionics. Our state of the art Virtual Reality simulator can be used to sit in any cockpit of choice. Finally our Boeing 737-800 simulator can get you ready for your first job with a commercial airline.

Westair is a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Approved Training Organisation (ATO), certified to deliver Private and Commercial Pilot training. We aim to deliver competent safe pilots, trained to

industry approved standards, at a competitive cost, in a friendly environment. We are also approved by ELCAS so If you are a serving member of the Armed Forces or a service leaver, you can now use your training entitlement towards our courses.

Our home base at Blackpool airport has an extremely good weather record compared with some other local airfields. A long tarmac runway means that extended periods of rain will not stop you flying, unlike airports with grass runways. Furthermore, its coastal location means that it rarely has to contend with low cloud or snow compared with airports situated higher up or further inland.

Blackpool airport has a small amount of commercial aircraft traffic. This puts you in a commercial environment without having to spend lots of time waiting for larger aircraft to land or take-off as you would at some of the busier airports.

To the North there is uncontrolled airspace for general handling whilst the facilities at the airport mean that there is no need to fly to another airport for more complex aspects of training such as instrument approaches.

At Westair we pride ourselves on our friendly professional staff who have earned us our excellent reputation in the industry. Our Head of Training has been instructing for over 40 years and is currently a Type Rating Examiner on the turbine Beech 200 Kingair. Our Commercial Chief Flying Instructor is a highly respected Examiner for the CAA. Our instructors are all highly experienced with many years of experience in training Commercial Pilots.
